Antique very charming french piano stool
with decorative floral green/cream velvet seat, finished with a ribbon (upholstered).
This stool has a unique technical system to adjust the height, which is attributed to Emile Blot.
Émile Blot was a prominent 19th-century French cabinetmaker (ébéniste) and mechanic based in Paris. Active primarily from the 1860s through the 1880s.
He became highly celebrated for his innovative "mechanical furniture".
Blot established his workshop in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine district of Paris.
This neighborhood was the historic, bustling heart of the French fine furniture industry, renowned for housing the country's most skilled artisans.
While Blot designed various types of space-saving and adjustable furniture popular with the rising middle class, his patented mechanical piano stools became his most enduring signature creation, solving the "Wobbly Stool" problem
