Stunning pair of antique hand-blown yellow glass vases with an applied vine decoration with bright and vivid colors.
Attribution: Harrach Glassworks (Graf Harrach’sche Glasfabrik) :
Harrach was an absolute master at producing layered, opaline-like glass in vibrant yellow and amber hues. They were renowned for decorating their vases with very thick, tactile, and naturalistic enamelwork. Hanging clusters of grapes with twisting, gold- or brown-colored vines were among their most iconic designs.
These vases are made of semi-translucent "Citron" yellow glass featuring an internal white "spatter" or marbled powder effect. This specific inclusion technique is highly characteristic of Harrach productions from the turn of the century.
Three-dimensional grape applications:
The red grapes are not merely painted; they are thick, three-dimensional droplets of red glass (appliqués or cabochons) fused while hot onto the yellow glass.
This heavy, tactile relief work is iconic of Bohemian glassware from this specific region.
Enameling & Gilding:
The geometric, hexagonal frames (resembling bamboo) and the veins of the leaves are highlighted with fine gold enamel. The leaves themselves are hand-colored in various shades of green to create depth.
