Ancienne paire de vases en faïence de barbotine avec deux anses élégantes.
Antique pair of majolica pottery vases with elegant handles.
Julius Dressler is very likely the manufacturer.
It is one of the most renowned names in the field of Central European Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) majolica. The factory was founded in 1888 by Julius Dressler in Biela (Bohemia). At the time, this region was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but it is now located in the Czech Republic.
The factory remained active until 1945.
A significant portion of the export production (particularly the vase series) bears only an impressed model number and a painter's mark.
Around the turn of the century (1900–1905), Dressler introduced fluid barbotine and majolica designs featuring realistic nature and landscape scenes.
These were assigned model numbers in the 11000 to 12000 range.
The clean, angular style of the impressed model number 11553 corresponds to the typeface used by the Dressler factory during that period (c. 1900–1905).
