Vintage tin metal candy / toffy box made in Belgium for Bensons England.
Beautiful vintage English toffee tin box,
originally produced for British confectionery brand Bensons Confectionery Ltd (Bury, Lancashire, UK).
The lid features a stunning, highly detailed historical print of a traditional Spanish paseíllo - the ceremonial parade of matadors and horsemen (alguacilillos) entering a 19th-century bullring.
Founded around 1900, Bensons became a household name across Great Britain and exported their famous sweets.
Known for their slogan "Something good from Bury", Bensons regularly commissioned premium, highly artistic lithographed tins for their luxury assorted toffees. These decorative tins were designed to be kept and reused as keepsake boxes after the candies were finished. This specific international bullfighting theme is a wonderful and rare example of their highly sought-after collectible tins from the 1930s to 1950s.
This tin is manufactured by the renowned Belgian tin maker Ets J. Schuybroek S.A. in Hoboken (Antwerp, Belgium).
